Framing Debt in the Discourse of Feminist Foreign Policy: Perspectives from the Global South

About the event

In recent years, the international community has seen a simultaneous rise in the number of feminist foreign policies as well as the number of initiatives designed to address the global debt crisis. The African Women’s Development and Communication Network (FEMNET), the Feminist Foreign Policy Collaborative and partners have been organizing a series of consultations on how debt can and should be addressed as a FFP priority–to inform the publication of a paper on the topic. Consultations build upon connections with diverse networks and individuals, including those involved in the Bridgetown Initiative and several global financing for development forums. In this event, organized along the sidelines of the 68th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women, organizers will present the draft paper, invite experts to a panel discussion and solicit inputs from the audience.

  • Memory Kachambwa, Executive Director of FEMNET

  • Mae Buenaventura, Senior Program Manager at the Asian Peoples’ Movement on Debt and Development

  • Chantal Umuhoza, Member of RESURJ

  • Spogmay Ahmed, Senior Policy Advisor of the Feminist Foreign Policy Collaborative
